Cambridge Business Startup
An old English university town, Cambridge is best known for its university which dates back to 1209, it is considered to be one of the most prestigious universities in the world. It’s also known for the Kings College which was founded by King Henry VI in 1441. Kings College was specifically founded for boys from Eton College but all that change in 1865 when the first undergraduates attended.Cambridge is home to a vast number of high tech businesses in and around the Cambridge area which is known as Silicon Fen (the Cambridge cluster). It has been claimed that it has the second largest venture capital market in the world.
Due to the hassle of driving through congested narrow streets, Cambridge has the highest level of cycle use in the UK. It is also home to one of the largest folk festivals in the UK.
It is a great place to visit, with plenty of museums and great places to shop. The university also has museums open to the public, which range from art to zoology.
In the centre of town there is an open air market that is run all week and on Sundays it specialises in selling arts and crafts.
Buisiness is also booming in the city of Cambridge. If you are planning to set your business up or move your business to the area it should be a prosperous move. Obviously with all business start-ups or expansions there is the question of finance. How much do I need? Where can I get the best deal?
You could obviously try a bank loan but the interest rates could be quite high so this might not be your best option. You will need a good business plan that clearly shows that your business will generate enough cash to make the loan repayments.
One option would be to find the finance through friends and family. But remember to treat these relationships as real business relationships as you don’t want to loose any friends or family. You should also plan how you intend on paying them back with a time frame and at what interest. Making a contract might be wise so your family can see you are serious about paying them back
A better option could be finding a private Investor or Venture Capitalist. Private angel investors and venture capital firms work primarily in the same way. They invest in the equity of your business and expect a return in the form of an acquisition, IPO, or stocks bought back in the future. This might be a wiser move as they will be experts in dealing with businesses and will only invest if they see a possible return on their investment.
Angel startups are experts in writing business plans and can also put you in the right directing of investors. So if you are wanting to start a business up in Cambridge, or wanting to move and expand you business in the area, give angelstartups a call today.
