Derby Business Angels

Derby is situated in the East Midlands and also on the edge of the Peak District National Park .  The town is famous for Britain 's Industrial Revolution which houses some of the countries first factories and spinning mills.  Well known factories include Rolls Royce, Royal Crown Derby and Railway engineering.

It is now a bustling and thriving city which boasts an excellent range of enter entertainment venues, attractions, pubs, restaurants and parks.  Most of the city centre is now pedestrianised making it a much safer place to shop.

There is £300 million being spent on redevelopment which will completely regenerate the southern part of Derby city centre, bringing with it 732, 000 square feet of new retail space and an estimated 2,850 jobs. It will house over 100 new shops, a food court that will be capable of seating 800 people and 2,000 more parking spaces.

At the foot of Iron Gate is Market Hall which houses an indoor market (open Mon-Sat) selling clothes, fruit, vegetables, meat, fish and sweets. Enter by passing under the Guildhall clock from Market Place. A farmers' market is held in Market Place on the third Thursday of every month and the section between Albion Street and the bus station is also a vibrant market area where stallholders peddle individual, often handmade wares.

Business is booming in Derby with many new businesses in the area. Starting a business can be a very daunting prospect and with expert help most businesses go bust with in the first few years. You may also need some financial assistance, which is where Business Angels might be the right move for you. Angels are often from an entrepreneurial background, and are willing to invest their own capital into a business to help it achieve its growth plans. Unlike banks and other forms of lending, the Angel will invest in your company in return for a percentage share, or equity stake. On top of this they will provide you with their own industry knowledge, expertise and contacts, in order to further help your growth in the market. With this hands on approach by the investor, it is important that a good relationship is developed between you and the Business Angel, as they look to secure a good return on their investment. Individually, Angels are normally willing to invest between £75,000 and £250,000, but if they operate as part of syndicate then this figure could easily be higher.
