Innovators, Inventors and Entrepreneurs and Their Frustrations with Bureaucracy and Academia

As the coordinator for the Online Think Tank it seems obvious at times the huge gap between inventors, innovators and entrepreneurs and the academics, government bureaucrats and professionals. Recently in discussing this at length with some Online Think Tank members one frustrated thinker said to another inventor type;

"Regarding the linear academics, Yah, no kidding, I cannot budge these people, their brains are all messed up they cannot think outside of the game and the game is constantly changing, that is the nature of it, so new theories must constantly be developed you see? I try to tell these academic bureaucrats this, in a nice way, but they get so defensive, that sometimes I just have to put them back in place for a second to get them to listen. "

You can feel the frustration with these innovators and yet it is not that the academics minds are all messed, rather they are more structured in their thinking, which is why they teach rather than create like the entrepreneurial inventor type. The frustrated innovator goes on to say with high-drama and emotion;

"Often I feel that they think they are thinking, but just because someone is a walking encyclopedia of information of a decade ago, doesn't mean anything to me, hell I have all the information in the world at my finger tips, I just do not need them to tell me what I already know? Or tell me that I do not know what I am talking about after I have already done it, lived it and been there? I need some business cards which say one thing; Reality Check, so I can hand it to them if need be?"

For true innovation to come of the teams that are entrusted with winning the game both types of minds will need to unite and force victory to reign. Weakness, excuses or inability to move the ball down the field due to miscommunication, misinterpretation or differences of how the individuals on the team have their brains hard wired is inexcusable and unacceptable.
